EPIC COFFEE

Hello Everyone! We’re finally back to give you our third blog post after a long hiatus. Well, it’s not actually a long hiatus. It has been only a couple of months since the last time we wrote a review about a Korean restaurant. But still, we’re truly sorry about that.

Last year, we went to Epic Coffee, a cafe and furniture gallery in Yogyakarta. We’ve visited this cafe several times and so far, we have no disappointing experience there. Even though it’s a little bit far from the downtown, Epic Coffee is quite accessible.

Let’s talk about the interior of this cafe. The main concept of the interior is industrialist with a little touch of vintage from the furniture. We love how EPIC Coffee can pull off the interior without making it look too ‘designed’. They use lots of wood elements with nice cement flooring, and the white exposed brick wall that makes the cafe looks so much brighter even with the dark wood furniture. We love how they give pops of color to the furniture and make the interior looks more fun.

This cafe is a good choice for students who are looking for a place to do their assignment, or maybe just hanging out with friends.

Warm Croque Monsieur 45K

I’m always a fan of savory meals. Croque monsieur is basically a baked, or fried, or grilled cheese and ham sandwich originated from France. EPIC’s version was just a little bit different. They toasted the sandwich and served it with fried egg, smoked beef, avocado, salad and melted cheese on top. Who doesn’t like melted cheese? I loveee creamy gooey cheese. The melted cheese was not overpowering at all and I like it. The bread was nicely toast, crunchy and buttery. The egg and beef was also good. The first time I bit the sandwich, I could taste the fresh avocado inside. The salad was served in a generous portion to balance everything. So, I didn’t have to feel guilty eating all of those fats and gluten, right? Overall I enjoyed EPIC’s Croque monsieur. Here I give you a closer look of the sandwich.

I’m a hardcore Aglio Olio pasta fan. Everytime we go to any Italian Restaurant the first dish that I always order is Aglio Olio, and of course this pasta is one of my most favorite menu in Epic Coffee. Ingredient wise, it’s only garlic, olive oil, and chili. They also added smoked beef into the pasta and it gave more savory taste. As you can see, they used a whole fried garlic for the garnish but it blended well with the pasta. The pasta’s cooked al-dente and overall this dish was outrageous!

Red Velvet Cheese Cake 32K

And now, dessert time! This was our first time trying the dessert menu at Epic Coffee. Of course, we tried the famous cake that almost everyone love. It is none other than Red Velvet! The cake was smooth and moist. The cream cheese was just melting in my mouth. Everything is just positive for this cake and definitely must try cake!

Strawberry Juice 30K

I chose strawberry juice to balance all fatty meals that I’d eaten. It’s just tasted so fresh and less sweet. I think any fresh beverages like juice, squash or tea are the best companion for the hearty meals.

Ice Latte 35K

Last but not least, this single shot of espresso with milk was really good. I love the creaminess and how delicate the flavor was. It was light, and for my palate it was a good companion for the sandwich that I ate.
