UPTOWN COFFEE AT WAROENG KOPI PRIJAJI

Hello readers! We’re very excited to share to you our very first blog post.  We keep our eyes on this small yet homey coffee shop in Salatiga called Waroeng Kopi Prijaji, and we also have come here for a few times and it never fails to satisfy our palate.

Our favorite spot at Waroeng Kopi Prijaji. The red sofa was comfy enough to let us stay for hours.

As you can see, the coffee shop is comfy and spacious. It is located uptown (we think it’s considered uptown because it is quite far from downtown.) so, it gives us a calm, and serene atmosphere.

The owner seems like a fan of vintage items. He combined it with antique and classic ornament along with the industrialist floor and wall. He use cement expose for flooring, and as you can see on the picture, he also let the wall “open” by exposing the bricks. The interesting parts about this coffee shop are, first the owner is friendly and funny. We can see him greet the customers one by one, and he serves and makes both food and coffee although there is also another barista. Second, this is very interesting, the menu for food is changed regularly based on what the owner’s want in the menu. But don’t worry some of the food and all beverages are fixed. Last but not least, they sell 80’s to 90’s snacks, like candy, chocolate, and also toys in grip size that nowadays, we barely find.

Some choices of local and import coffee beans that available for Arabica. Yup, unfortunately they don’t brew Robusta here. Now, enough with the chitchat. Curious about what we tasted there, right? Even if you’re not curious, just be curious and keep reading :D

Crème de caramel café latte 30K

Served hot, as I remember, this coffee was mixed with caramel, milk, and cinnamon. It gives me the delicate flavor and was brewed well. The sweetness was just perfect so I still can taste the bitter flavor of coffee. It was medium bodied and not too creamy. Such a good café latte and it suits perfectly with the acoustic songs also the rainy evening. Yup, it was rainy. But inside the coffee shop was warm tho. Thanks to crème de caramel café latte. Thumbs up for Waroeng Kopi Prijaji’s baristas! I can’t wait to try another coffee brewed by them.

Strawberry Italian Soda 18K

As for the Strawberry Italian Soda, they made it from strawberry syrup, soda and pieces of fresh strawberry. It served with ice, so it was really refreshing my throat. it was not too sweet and the composition between syrup and soda was just perfect. This beverage suits well with the creamy pasta.

Red Velvet 25K

The Red Velvet was sweet yet fresh although it is a milkshake. It tastes like a real red velvet cake that blended into a beverage. I was so overwhelmed with this red velvet because it was my first time trying red velvet milkshake, so as you can see, I’ve already drunk it before the picture was taken. This is definitely recommended beverage!

Lava Burger 42K

I think lots of people like to eat burger. This lava burger was a recommended one. It was scrumptious! The name lava burger was from the half-cooked sunny side up that melt like lava when you bite the burger. I should have took a photo when it melts… #regretscomelate. The buns were good, the meat was tender and seasoned well. I remember that there’s jalapeno inside this burger. The tomato, cucumber, and lettuce were fresh and completed the whole flavor of the burger along with the onion and the sauce inside. French fries was fried well too as it was crunchy outside yet tender inside. Love it!

Basil Pesto Pasta 34K

This basil pesto pasta was good. I like the fact that this creamy pasta was gooey, but I would prefer if the pasta was slightly creamier. I missed that creamy texture of pasta because I’ve been eating only aglio olio whenever I eat pasta for these few months. Fyi, this is my first time trying pesto pasta. I never tried it before because I don’t feel like it will suit my palate. But I thought it was not a bad idea to try. My favorite pasta is still aglio olio, but this one was taste good enough for my liking. Cream was just the right amount and the chicken was tender. Overall I didn’t regret for trying out this menu.

Tuna Aglio Olio (Top) 34K and Pork Aglio Olio (Bottom) 38K

Aglio Olio is one of my all time favourite pasta. Everytime I go to Italian or Western Restaurant, I will definitely order this kind of pasta. Of course, one of my most favourite menus from Waroeng Kopi Prijaji is Aglio Olio. In the Blackboard Menu, you will only see Tuna Aglio Olio but actually you can ask the chef to replace the tuna with pork or chicken. I chose to taste both Tuna and Pork Aglio Olio (of course in different occasion :P). Ingredient wise, both was not greasy, not salty, the seasoning was great  and the more you stir it the more delicious you get. The tuna and pork was generously given for a portion.  As for the tuna, it was too much so it tasted a bit dry (for me). Overall both pastas’ cooked al-dente and definitely one of the best pastas I’ve ever had.

Spicy Chicken Wings 24K (Chicken Only)

This spicy chicken wings were finger licking good! The chicken was juicy, the skin was crispy and it was caramelized well. The spiciness was just perfect for my liking. I’m not good at eating spicy food like my sister, Jessyca do, but I still can eat this dish comfortably. Flavor wise, the seasoning was great and tasteful. This picture was taken when I had a dinner with my close friend Alel, who is also a blogger, for his first blog post. you can visit his blog here : www.iptence.blogspot.com

Poached Pear (±25K)

One of the desserts that I’ve tried here was Pouched Pear. It was made from a whole pealed pear fruit and one scoop vanilla ice cream, was boiled with kind of Javanese traditional herbs (I think) until the flesh turned into red. I thought it would taste like a real herbs but it turns out so good, the herbs was not too strong, still can taste the freshness of the pear and it blended well with the ice cream.

Pancake 24K

This pancake served with various kind of topping. I chose blueberry (my all-time favorite jam).  This pancake was moist inside, and flavor wise it was good. The portion was also generous but it was a bit too generous for me because I ate main course just before it came to my table. So I recommend, not eating it with heavy main course. Served warm, it was a good combination of pancake, blueberry jam and icing sugar.

Grilled Honey Rum Banana 28K

Last but not least. This dessert tasted heavenly! The banana, honey, and rum were a perfect combination and with vanilla ice cream on top, this delightful banana dish left a nice sweet aftertaste. I don’t need to talk much about this dish. The plating, as you can see, was also beautiful. Overall I satisfied.

That’s it for our first post on ODTRALI. We hope that you enjoy our blog and would love to come back! Oh, and If you notice, the food was described individually. Some were described by Jessyca and some by Bella. So please remember that this is based on our palate. It might be different for every person. And definitely, we didn’t eat all 10 dishes in one time. ^^ Stay tuned on our blog and thanks for visiting! We really appreciate it.

DON’T EAT FOOD. TASTE IT.
